Searching for clues ……

Tower Bloxx Deluxe

Posted by admin On January - 31 - 2010

Every now and then I get sent a title that, if I were honest, wouldn’t have really grabbed my attention. Until I begin to play it……….and such is the case with Tower Bloxx deluxe. It’s not a title I would’ve normally picked up but now I have I can’t put it down !

The concept is simple – stacking blocks on top of one another to create tower blocks for the Tower Toons. You must time it right so that the blocks are dropped on top of each other to form a stable tower. The more stable the tower the more residents will occupy it. There are five different types of tower – blue, red, green, gold and light blue. The type
of tower you can build will be dictated by who you have supplied as neighbours. Eg the standard blue block can be built anywhere but the green tower must be beside both a red and a blue tower.  Sub-goals are added along with achievements, enhanced city building mode and midway targets such as tower upgrades and balcony blocks that add population boosts to your tower.

There are four different modes to play. In story mode the mayor A.Z. Millspaugh and city architect Ava Dandelion of Sycamore Vale has ask you to quickly help in rebuilding the city since the old residences are falling apart. You will have Ava to guide you and with each milestone a mystery box containing available upgrades etc. will be revealed. The
upgrades include extra floors, balcony floors, and enhanced roofs for the different blocks. Unfortunately there is only five districts available so it’s a case of visiting them repeatedly to improve your score. A larger gaming environment would really have benefited the game.

In Quick Game mode your goal is to make your tower as high as possible and Earth soon becomes a distant spot as you’re improving skills can allow you to build all the way into space. In Time Challenge mode you get to see how
well you do under pressure and in Party Game mode up to four people can build towers on the same machine with split-screen action.

There’s really not else I can say. The gameplay is so simplistic  but the game is beautifully presented and highly addictive !
