Benoit Sokal triple pack
Things have been pretty quiet on Twitchy recently for the simple reason Iceberg Interactive have released a Benoit Sokal triple pack “Syberia Collection” containing Amerzone, Syberia, and Syberia 2. I have been in gaming heaven for the past couple of weeks and really didn’t want to come back to Earth !
If you’re unfamiliar with Benoit Sokal he is one of Europe’s leading comic Book writers, he joined software developer Microïds where he designed the adventure games Amerzone, Syberia and Syberia II. He then founded his own game company, White Birds Productions, where he created the adventure game Paradise , Last King of Africa(DS),Sinking Island , and Nikopol: Secrets of the Immortals . In short he is a bit of a legend in the adventure gaming field and has been credited with re-invigorating the genre when Syberia was released.
The beauty of Sokal’s work is the strength of his story telling and throughout all his games, the tale is never dwarfed or overshadowed by the puzzles. A prominent feature in his games are the imaginative gadgets and contraptions, almost steam punk in style at times, and, for the most part , made from natural resources - you’ll find yourself wondering what the next invention is going to be !
Our first look will be at Amerzone, the acorn that grew and produced these great adventure titles. Released in 1999, Amerzone is a first-person adventure game where the player takes the role of a journalist on a quest to help save a rare species of magical white birds.
