The Dracula Trilogy review

Posted by admin On November - 15 - 2009

The Dracula Trilogy released by Iceberg Interactive contains the re-mastered versions of  Dracula I: Resurrection, Dracula 2: The Sanctuary and Dracula 3: Path of the Dragon, with the latter never having been released in the UK before!

In recent years there has been a “softening” or “humanising” of vampires through the media be it Twilight , True Blood , Being Human or even kid‘s program Mona the Vampire (!) however, Iceberg Interactive have restored the natural balance of things with the release of their Dracula trilogy . No more are we subjected to the handsome and cute media characters as, in these games we revert to the Eastern European, blood-sucking, light fearing, soulless vampires from Bram Stoker’s quintessential vampire novel Dracula . The trilogy does in fact lean heavily on references from Stoker using locations and characters from the novel . During the first two games you play as protagonist Jonathan Harker who is in a constant tug of war with Dracula for Mina, his wife.
The first of the three games , Dracula Resurrection which was first released by Microids in 1999,  continues were Stoker’s novel ends beginning with a cinematic showing Harker , Mina and his companion  Quincy hijacking Dracula and his henchmen . But is this the end for Dracula ? Obviously not yet and Mina, unable to resist the urge of Dracula’s calling ,returns to his castle in Transylvania and Harker sets off to rescue her.
