Secret Files 2: Puritas Cordis is the official sequel to the successful point and click adventure Secret Files:Tunguska published by Deep Silver. Puritas Cordis is scheduled for release on the PC, DS and Wii platforms on 08 May 2009. Our preview code allowed us to explore the first three chapters/ levels in which we boarded a cruise ship with Nina, explored an Indonesian jungle as Max and was washed up on a French beach as Nina! The story begins with a secret document in the possession of a preisthood . Unfortunately there’s a rather sinister group hunting for the said document and will stop at nothing to gain possession of it . What information does the document contain ? Our first opportunity to have a stab at play is during this brief introduction and gives us a good feel of the game.
When we first meet Nina she is just about to board a cruise ship for a holiday, possibly to get over her break up with Max, however Nina soon finds herself (accidently , of course) in the middle of the action trying to stop a sinister secret society and their leaders prophesies of catastrophies. Why are these catastrophies suddenly occurring with such regularity ? Is mother nature really to blame ?
On boarding the ship it isn’t long before Nina has to solve a series of inventory based puzzles interacting with the other characters and just when things take an exciting turn we switch play to Max.
Max meanwhile has gone exploring in the Indonesian jungle meeting up with an old friend Sam. However not all the natives are friendly and the pair soon find themselves in trouble. It’s Max’s mission to try and release Sam from her captors using the tools of the jungle. Again we switch back to Nina who has befriended a preist and is able to fill her in with the details of Puritas Cordis . Does the document contain the key to stopping the society ?
So far the preview has greatly impressed – the graphics are so crisp and clean (I’ve taken some extra screenshots from the preview and posted a gallery below as evidence) but a special mention must go to the water effects. Whether it was brushing against the side of the ship or lapping the French shore , the sea looked absolutely amazing – very realistic. The character renditions are beautifully drawn with soft lines with a good range of features, and the backgrounds just so gorgeous and inviting.
The puzzles have all been inventory based and nothing to difficult yet.
The voice acting flawless as are the ambient sounds – everything about the game is just so polished .
At this point I’m just counting down the days / hours/ and minutes until 08 May 2009 , when I can get my hands on the full version
